Which Facebook Ad Will Employers Like Best?

If you’ve already read about my success using Facebook ads in my job search, you know that the ad on the left, below, has generated a terrific amount of qualified leads and interest from top managers, employees with inside hiring knowledge–even C-levels. However, I’ve had some feedback indicating that it’s in heavy circulation on the profiles of the same users and is becoming less and less effective. Overexposure to the same content may be leading to diminishing returns. I don’t like diminishing returns.

Starting today, I’m implementing an A/B test using the same targeting and budget ($10/day) to see if a fresh look, new headline and slightly altered copy will improve the flow and quality of inbound contacts. The ads below will appear with equal frequency.

A

B

Too bad you can’t place bets, my money goes to the one on the right with the “hi”.

Thanks, Dave. I’ll let you know.

That’s a tough call – wording on the right is rockin’ but the “Hi!” scares me off.

Still, there’s something to be said for visibility!

Lucretia- Is it too playful or jokey? What if I removed the balloon and word and kept the pic?

Ian – I think the one on the left will perform better, because of the title and the picture seems a little warmer to me. Just an opinion -

I might implement some A/B/C today, based on some great feedback here and on Twitter.

B! I like the “hi” – it is eye capturing and your copy is better on that ad too.
You need to go with B

I think the trick is hiding in the header. Pretending I’m an employer, and totally guessing here, I think the “Need sharp talent?” question plays more to *my* needs, while the “I want to work for you” is more about *your* needs/wants.

Can’t wait to hear what your testing shows!

Leyla- I think the copy is better, like you said, but I’m starting to have second thoughts about the image…

Summer- I think you’re dead on.

    B. “Hi” is social. It is welcoming and inviting. The headline, too, states what you are looking for and WHO is looking for it. A seems more like the standard ads that get passed over. Great job.

David- I actually spoke with my friend at Facebook yesterday. She advised me to go exclusively with B, and that’s what I’m doing now. She said no matter how good the original ad is, when people see it over and over and don’t click, I’m just wasting circulation. True. Thanks for stopping by.
